Here's a familiar story: You're mounting a new scope on your favorite rifle, making sure the base and rings are good and tight, when the hex-head screw strips or the Allen wrench bends.

Even after this, many people still feel hex-head screws are the best for mounting a scope. But at Redfield, we asked "is there a better way?"

There is. The Torx™ Drive System. In fact, Torx is approximately 25 percent tighter than the standard hex-head screw. Traditional hex-head screws have a drive angle of 60 degrees, so the wrench has very little area to "grab." Once enough force is applied, two things can happen: the screw strips or the wrench gives.

The difference on a Torx screw is the six deep lobes. With a drive angle of just 15", they provide a comparatively huge surface area that firmly "grabs" the wrench as you drive in the screw.
