Lones Wigger began shooting at age 11, and began competitive shooting at age 12. At Montana State University, he was a three time All-American shooter, and was inducted into MSU's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986.
Lones shooting awards seem endless. He captured 111 medals for the U.S. while stationed with the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit. He is a four time Olympian, and earned gold and silver medals in the 1964 Olympics; won another Olympic gold in 1972. He held a total of 22 world titles and 27 world records... won 85 national championships... was a member of six Pan Am teams, four Championships of the America's teams, and six World Championship teams. He served as director of the U.S. Shooting Team for seven years, and in 1991 was inducted into the U.S. International Shooting Hall of Fame.
